Fred Penner sings his song:

A HOUSE IS A HOUSE FOR ME would be an excellent book to sing when studying habitats and the homes animals make for themselves, and for children to realize that the nest a bird builds to lay its eggs and nurture the chicks  is not so different a concept than houses a people build for raising families.  Fred Penner’s song contains the same words as the book, but not in the same order.  I have attempted to get the music, but got no response. The next step would be to transcribe the song and arrange the words and music in the order that suits the book.

A HOUSE IS A HOUSE FOR ME
Words by Mary Ann Hoberman
Music by Fred Penner

A hill is a house for an ant, an ant.
A hive is a house for a bee.
A hole is a house for a mole or a mouse
And a house is a house for me!

A web is a house for a spider.
A bird builds its nest in a tree.
There is nothing so snug as a bug in a rug
And a house is a house for me!
overtly educational:

An igloo’s a house for an Eskimo.
A tepee’s a house for a Cree.
A pueblo’s a house of a Hopi.
And a wigwam may hold a Mohee.

And once you get started in thinking this way,
It seems that whatever you see
Is either a house or it lives in a house,
And a house is a house for me!
