I love the Fun Song Series.  The whole series of books provides an outlet to sing and learn simultaneously, while having fun!

Molly Pitcher is a great female heroic figure from the Revolutionary War.  Her story shows kids that, in conflicts like the one Americans fought for their independence, everyone had to pitch in and do their part.  Additionally, kids learn that one of the secrets to the success of American’s unlikely victory were these seemingly small acts of heroism which added up to make a big difference.
