Old MacDonald Had a Band, an Illustrated Audience Participation Song

Posted on: May 24, 2020

This fun little adaptation can be played on uke and with fun instruments by one person, or facilitator can request audience members volunteer to play along.  I suggest, of course, that the facilitator keep any instruments that require the mouth to herself!  But everything else can be played by participants.

I have a bag full of a fun collection of music makers: jingle bells stick, tambourine, bicycle bell, rubber duckie, honker, desk bell, maraca, glockenspiel, dog toy with squeaker, castanet, triangle, egg shaker, lollipop drum, mini cymbals.  Let your imagination go wild!

For facilitator: train whistle, slide whistle, bird water warbler, kazoo!

If the facilitator is playing solo, it’s best to keep it short and sweet.  Pick 3 instruments, line them up and sing them.
