Sing Books with Emily, the Blog

Archive for May 23rd, 2020

This is a fun audience participation singing game.  It’s a great way for little ones to learn animal sounds or just have an enjoyable time with interaction and cooperation.  You can accompany the singing with ukulele or sing a capella.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Animal Sound Jamboree

Create a collection of animal sounds from any source you can think of (toys, instruments, recordings, or just voice). The funnier the better.  Any toy or instrument that makes an animal sound is perfect.

Get volunteers, pass out animal sounds.  If you are planning to let participants use their voices, have animal pictures in a sack and let kids pull their animals out at random.

Line kids up so you can see them. Each animal sound gets a verse, then the third line of the song repeats tune, accumulating the animal sounds as you go.

Or you could just give each animal sound its own verse and repeat them all at the end.

Last verse, everyone plays all at once in the jamboree.
Any kid not playing an animal sound is a Birdie along with me!
