SING BOOKS WITH EMILY 2/18/2019 THE GETTYSBURG ADDRESS, an Illustrated Song BITLY LINK On this President’s Day, Sing Books with Emily celebrates with THE GETTYSBURG ADDRESS, one of the United States most treasured speeches, given by Abraham Lincoln on November 19, 1863. Smithsonian Folkways recorded a 6th grade classes’ musical rendition of the great speech in 1964. I asked the wonderful Paul Raiman to transcribe it and create a piano sing-along. You will find this Sing Along embedded in the links above. Singing the speech is a terrific way to learn and connect to the words. It is especially enriching to sing the musical rendition along with Sam Fink’s epic illustration of the text.
