Green Grass Grew All Around: an activity for BIRDS OF A FEATHER

Posted on: May 16, 2018

Sing Books with Emily is very much looking forward to presenting a bird themed program called BIRDS OF A FEATHER at Reston Regional Library, partnered with the wonderful storyteller/librarian Marcia Wines.  Miss Marcia selected a number of bird related picture books to include in the program and has written a few thoughts for each one.

About the program, Miss Marcia says, “Birds of a feather flock together and it is our mutual love of all creatures winged that bring Miss Emily and I to this joyful collaboration and celebration of our avian friends!”

Thoughts about GREEN GRASS GREW ALL AROUND Audience Participation Activity by Marcia Wines:

One of the very first memories I have as a child is of my dear godmother, Aunt Marcy, sitting down with me in the shade of a large tree in our backyard on Frederick Street in Detroit, Michigan, regaling me while introducing me to the “Green Grass Grew All Around”. I sing it now in her sweet and previous memory…

No celebration of birds would be complete without an all-out, rollicking, audience participation rendition of the “Green Grass Grew All Around, lavishly presented with puppets and props! “Shake that grass!”
