Illustrated song to celebrate National ASL Day.

On first creating this post in April 2017, all I’ve got is the ABCs in sign.  But kids do love to make and learn the signs.  It’s a start.  But I recognize it is only a teeny-tiny little start.

NOTES:

*
I would love to learn more signs to accompany my illustrated songs.  This will take time, but it is definitely part of my vision for Sing Books

*
My friend James has been a sign language interpreter for, among other things, the Anna Crusis choir in Philadelphia.  He told me that interpreting song with ASL is not a word for word translation.  ASL is it’s own language, but that language includes things like movement and facial expressions.  It is an extremely physically expressive language, so you have to translate the emotion and the sound of the music AND communicate the words.  One must really appreciate the work that a good interpreter does!
