Scenes from ONE WIDE RIVER and PORT SIDE PIRATES at Carlin Springs Elementary School Today (Thanks Ms. Anctil)

Posted on: March 29, 2017

Thanks to Ms. Anctil for taking pictures of some of our fun today at Carlin Springs Elementary School! These are scenes from ONE WIDE RIVER (the 1966 illustration with marvelous woodcuts by Ed Emberley) and PORT SIDE PIRATES (one of my favorite new illustrated songs to sing, published by Barefoot Books). We sang ONE WIDE RIVER to celebrate the kids’ visit to the zoo (what fun!). When we sang PORT SIDE PIRATES we learned that the bow is the front pointy end of the boat and when you look to the bow, the port side is the left side of the boat and the starboard side is the right side. The kids sang along with the choruses of the songs and we had a grand time!
