NOTES ON VISITS

In most visits, I brought along my guitar and fun instruments like jingle bells, limberjacks, kazoos, and train whistles.

I developed a big canvas sack full of homemade books for little songs and Mother Goose nursery rhymes.  Some of the rhymes I made myself and then wrote tunes and chords to go with them.  For others, I figured out chords for traditional tunes.  The kids love the chance to take turns and pick books from the bag.  They close their eyes and pull out a song and then we sing the surprise.

The published books are all in big canvas bags, too.  Sometimes, I pick out songs for the group and sometimes kids come up and choose a song at random.

It’s fun for everyone and keeps me on my toes, too!
