Sing Books with Emily, the Blog

A shared moment in song’s “immediate purchase on the sublime.”

Posted on: December 23, 2016

Often I read something about one art form and feel strongly that the idea applies to others. For example, in my deep backlog of New Yorkers is an article about a poet. The article author mentions poetry’s “immediate purchase on the sublime.” Besides it just being a beautiful assemblage of words, I think the same could be said for the act of singing a song. The opportunity to share in the experience of a moment immediately and marvelously crafted with bits of sound, emotion, experience, breath, heartbeat and soul. They are sublime, such moments, and indescribably wonderful.
