Emily, I welcomed seeing Guthrie’s, Riding In My Car and wondered if you know about a Smithsonian album, Little Seed by Elizabeth Mitchell. She covers a whole album of Guthrie songs including Bling Blang, Riding In My Car and This Land Is Your Land. This is an EXTRAORDINARY album. The combination of Guthrie’s word smithing along with Mitchell’s delightful interpretations make a true gem. I’ve given this album to many new parents who all remarked at how wonderful is was to share it with their growing child.

Hello David, Looks like I just happened to peek at my blog the very second you posted this comment. There’s a little magic. RIDING IN MY CAR with the illustration posted is on my loooooong list of TO DO’s, illustrated songs for which to make music.

I’ve known about and have admired the music of Elizabeth Mitchell for a few years. Thanks for telling me about LITTLE SEED. I didn’t know about that particular album and it is sweet to see a collection of lesser known Woody Guthrie songs. I went straight to iTunes and bought it. I love what she does with her music, so honest, clear and authentic.

All best wishes to you and thanks!!
Emily
