A few thoughts from Emily about singing this book.
This book has been sitting on “the pile” for a long time, being avoided since at my first inspection, I could not find a recording of the song. It comes with music, so I saved plunking out a tune for another time and turned my attention to illustrated songs whose tunes were easier to find or ones that I already knew.
If, however, I’d payed closer attention, the tune would have jumped right out at me. You can sing the lyrics in this book to the tune of MY BONNIE LIES OVER THE OCEAN.
This makes things easy. You don’t even need to have music made to sing it. You will need to practice it a few times. Most of the time the words fit comfortably with the tune that you likely already know. Here and there, however, the rhythm is a little bumpy and you’ll have to work out for yourself how to make a few of the words fit to the tune.
TROUBLE BREWING offers a terrific opportunity to have some fun learning history and as a catalyst for discussion about The Boston Tea Party as an event leading to the American Revolution.
The book contains historical information, printed music, glossary, and resources “to learn more.”
