I’ve devoted a good portion of my life to sharing song and I believe the making of music simultaneously nurtures the flowering of the music maker and improves the climate for living in general. Singing (and the act of making music) is one of the ultimate acts of self expression.
I like these quotes:
The self is not something ready-made, but something in continuous formation through choice of action.
(John Dewey, American Philosopher)
People often say that this or that person has not yet found himself. But the self is not something one finds, it is something one creates.
(Thomas Szasz, American Psychologist)
My husband often says, “Life is choices.”
I’ll choose to sing and to create and express myself that way and believe in my heart that in doing so, the world becomes a better place.
I also like this,
We are the music makers, / And we are the dreamers of dreams
(Arthur O’Shaughnessy, British Poet)
When I first heard this said, it was Willy Wonka who said it.
INFO AND THINKING ABOUT SINGABLE PICTURE BOOKS

A friend told me about this book:
Handy Play Party Book
Music and Lyrcis by Various Artists
Edited by Cecilia Riddell
Also Attributed to Lynn Rohrbough
This book includes the songs:
Though this is not a Singable Picture Book (as it contains no pictures), this is is a songbook compilation that offers printed music for familiar and hard to find songs and detailed descriptions of movements and dances which historically belong to the songs. Movements and dances might be a nice way to incorporate exercise, variety, and extra fun into Sing Books gatherings, and just for added benefit of further engaging children and their busy bodies and minds.
Info about play parties and some scans/pages/instructions from the book, here:
I bought the book at this website:
