My Many Colored Days
Words by Dr. Seuss (AKA Theodore Geisel)
Traditional Tune (sing to the tune of Greensleeves or Make New Friends)
Illustrated by Steve Johnson and Lou Fancher

You can sing Dr. Seuss’s wonderful words to the tune of GREENSLEEVES and enjoy getting whirled away by the deep colored emotions of the paintings by, husband and wife team, Steve Johnson and Lou Fancher.

Dr. Seuss wrote the words in the 1970’s, but they went unpublished until artists Johnson and Fancher brought them vividly to life in 1996.

Notes on Singing theWords

You can really “GO TO TOWN” singing the emotions, using the colors as additional inspiration with the book.  The rhyme, rhythm and emotional swells of the book fit nicely with the tune “Greensleeves” (which you might also know as the Christmas carol “What Child is This”).

If you need help with the tune, try Track 21 (“What Child is This”) on Philadelphia Brass Ensemble’s album “A Festival of Carols in Brass.”

Once you’ve got the tune in your head, though, try singing this one a capella so you can zip along or take your time as needed with the emotional highs and lows, buzzing like bees or howling at the clouds.
