The Nutshell Library
Words by Maurice Sendak
Illustrations by Maurice Sendak
(Contains 4 books: Alligators All Around, Chicken Soup with Rice, Pierre, and One Was Johnny; Tunes for all 4 books written by Carole King)

The Nutshell Library, written and illustrated by Maurice Sendak is like a joyful packet of “Everything I needed to know I learned in Kindergarten” with counting, alphabets, humor, months, mischief, and morality plays encased in a decorated cardboard box.

As a kid I was enthralled with the mini-books, bright red bindings wrapped in shades of green and blue dust jackets, contained in a little box all their own, fancifully illustrated with pictures by that fantastic fella that wrote “Where the Wild Things Are.”

Mix this with tunes written and sung by Carole King and I was in kid heaven.
