PROJECT PUT: PICK UP TRASH, THEME SONG

PUT-Banner

My daughter Eloise wanted to start a movement to remove litter from our communities,

So we created Project PUT: Pick Up Trash (and put it where it belongs, in the recycle or a designated trash receptacle),
http://projectput.wordpress.com/

All you have to do is pledge to not litter and to Pick Up Trash whenever you can:
http://projectput.wordpress.com/take-the-project-put-pledge/

We got recognition from the author of the new picture book about the song MY COUNTRY TIS OF THEE, who is hosting the the My Country Tis of Thee Music Project, for our Project PUT Theme song!
Sing Along with Eloise and Emily, here:

We had a wonderful time Singing Books today at the Dumfries Neighborhood Library in Dumfries, VA this morning.

It was a large and delightful crowd of children and their caregivers.  I got to visit with some old friends and make new friends, too.  My heartfelt thanks to everyone who came out to sing with me today.

I brought my guitar to sing OLD BLUE to honor the PAWS TO READ, 2014 Summer Reading program theme this year.  We also made use of my glockenspiel, foot tambourines, rubber duckie and kazoo.  It’s always more fun with instruments!

Here’s our song stack (listed in alpha order),

FIVE GREEN AND SPECKLED FROGS is a fun movement and counting song.  I have assembled a book you can print and put into a 3-ring binder.  My illustration included participation cards for child volunteers to play the frogs while everyone sings-along.

These are my instructions for assembling the book for yourself into a 3-ring binder then singing this cute counting songs using child volunteers and the FROG NUMBER CARDS that are included with my illustration:

  • Print the pages
  • Put p. 1 (front cover/title sheet) into the front clear pocket of a 3 ring binder
  • Put p. 3 (back cover) into the back clear pocket of the 3 ring binder
  • Use scissors to for p. 4 and cut out the sliver of paper with the title of the book on it and slip the sliver into the clear plastic side edge pocket of the 3 ringer binder so you can find the book on a shelf.
  • Put each of the remaining pages in its own sheet protector
  • Put all protected sheets, in order, into the 3 ring binder, except for the sheets with big blue numbers 0-5, put those into one of the inside pockets of the 3 ring binder
  • To sing the song with a group of children, get 6 volunteers to stand up and hold each of the sheets with blue numbers. As you sing the song (flipping the pages as you sing), the child with the appropriate number will sit down after the lyric, “One Jumped into the pool.” For example, when you begin with 5 frogs on the log, the child holding the card with #5 on it will sit down when that frog jumps in the pool. Each child will sit down when his/her number is sung. When and the child with the log sits down, the song is over and everyone claps for what a great job all the volunteers did.
  • HAVE FUN!
