Finding “Light the Candles!  Beat the Drums! (a book of holidays)” at the Fort Myer Thrift Store was exciting.  So exciting, in fact, that I had to go back a second time since I had no cash the first time and they wouldn’t let me  use my credit card for less than $5 (or something like that).  It was worth the trouble. Though this is not a Singable Picture Book, it will provide many ideas and great information about holidays worth singing about, finding songs for, or celebrating in song. Published in 1979 by Scribners, the colored woodcut illustrations are fantastic!!  I adore this kind of vintage looking illustration and will have to suppress my desire to take the book apart and frame the pictures.
