Sing Books with Emily, the Blog

Archive for January 4th, 2012

I was so happy to see my friends in Mrs. Morgan’s class for the first “Sing Books” of 2012!

Here’s what we sang,

*

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star
Poem by Jane Taylor
Illustrated by Jerry Pinkney
(This gorgeously illustrated book gets a gold star for using the mostly unacknowledged FULL text of the poem)

*** ***

Catalina Magdalena Hoopensteiner Wallendiner Hogan Logan Bogan Was Her Name

Traditional Words and Tune
Illustrated by Tedd Arnold

*

Sunrise, Sunset

Words by Sheldon Harnick
Music by Jerry Bock
Illustrated by Ian Schoenherr
This song is from the musical “Fiddler on the Roof”

*

Fifty Nifty States
Words and Music by Ray Charles
Book Assembled by Emily Leatha Everson Gleichenhaus
This item is for classroom, home, or library use only.

We sang “50 Nifty” TWICE…once with the book and a second time, a capella, pointing to the states on the map as we sang the state names.  It was a challenge, but we’re getting better at it!

Rhode Island is Famous for You
Words by Howard Dietz
Music by Arthur Schwartz
Book Assembled by Emily Leatha Everson Gleichenhaus
