Five Little Pumpkins, a Singable Picture Book
Posted on: October 4, 2011
Five Little Pumpkins, a fun little counting song, is spooky enough to be interesting but, tempered by the camaraderie of the pumpkin pals, sweet enough not to frighten. This number song is fun for Halloween and has been illustrated into Singable Picture Books.

Five Little Pumpkins
Traditional Words and Tune
Five little pumpkins
Sitting on a gate
First one said,
“Oh my, it’s getting late.”
Second one said,
“There are witches in the air.”
The third one said,
“But we don’t care.”
The fourth one said,
“Let’s run and run and run.”
The fifth one said,
“I’m ready for some fun .”
Ooo Ooo went the wind and out went the light,
And the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight.

My favorite recording of the song is by Raffi, on his “Singable Songs for the Very Young” CD. It is sweet, simple, a capella, and just right!:

Kiddidles has a different version than the one I’m familiar with, but this link includes an activity page and midi file:
