Sing Books with Emily, the Blog

Archive for May 4th, 2011

We recorded four more songs for “Oh, What a Beautiful Day: Sing Books with Emily, the Cabaret CD” last night at Art of Music Studios.

The fabulous Alex Tang joined us in the studio to record songs with live accompaniment.  Art of Music Studios is Jeff Tucker’s recording studio in Alexandria, VA, and he is fantastic at putting everything together.  Watching him work the machines and software inspires awe.  And, I’m always grateful that my director Judy Simmons is there.  She is amazingly supportive and has a wonderful skill for saying just the thing to help me tell the stories with authenticity and authority, capturing clear and honest performances.  We recorded the vocal and instrumental tracks for:

Alex’s work as accompanist and arranger and Jeff’s work with the sound design (including fabulous ideas from Judy) on the track for Teddy Bear’s Picnic are brilliant.   I cannot wait to work with this track to craft the vocal performance and then share the delight with everyone.

I could not be more grateful for the fantastic talents of my friends.

How lucky can a girl get?

This Teacher Appreciation Week at Tuckahoe Elementary, giving me the opportunity to express how much I appreciate the wonderful staff of the school.  Ms. Anctil is surely one of the best teachers anywhere.  A couple of moms from the class where running the classroom while Ms. A got a much deserved lunchtime break.  We had great time singing a fabulous stack of Singable Picture Books:
