We had a wonderful time celebrating Hanukkah and the coming Winter Season in Ms. Anctil’s K class this morning.  Oooooo that sea of cute faces, open minds and fresh little voices fills my heart with joy.

I wasn’ the only person horrified by an October 2010 New York Times Article article about waning sales of picture books (resulting from chapter book snobbery of parents pushing their kids to read “more advanced” material) causing publishers to curtail their support of the genre.

This past Sunday’s New York Times Book Review published an article by Leah Hager Cohen reviewing Maira Kalman’s new illustrated book for grown-ups and weighing in to support the use of pictures in books, not just to add entertainment, but to add a dose of the sublime…
