One little, two little, three little…L’s
Sing the words of the song for the letter K to the tune of “Ten Little Indians”
One Luscious, Two Luscious
(Lyrics by Teddy Slater, from book “ABC Sing-Along,” sing to the tune of “Ten Little Indians”)
One luscious, two luscious,
three luscious lollipops:
Let’s all lick them
down to their little sticks.
We love lollipops!
The origins of the “Ten Little Indians” are spelled out in this informative wiki article:
Since it is a wiki article, be sure to check your fact before quoting, but these are some interesting facts.
When researching the song “Michael Finnegan,” the tune sounded familiar and I realized that is is the same tune as “Ten Little Indians,” although “Michael Finnegan” has more syllables to deal with. The wiki article confirmed this for me.
Another fact the wiki article confirms for me is that “Ten Little Indians” is rather offensive, especially if you consider some of the songs origins. I’m not sure this is a set of words to celebrate. Although, “Michael Finnegan” is perfectly acceptable. I don’t blame the tune, it’s the words which pose a problem.
The lollipop song, too, is innocent, sweet, and enjoyable!
