Who Has Seen the Wind, a Singable Poem
Posted on: March 22, 2010

Christina Rossetti (1830-1894)
“Who Has Seen the Wind,” by Christina Rossetti, is a short but powerful poem about the mysterious forces in our world that we cannot see but which are keenly felt. This poem is probably too short to get its own individual book, but it has been printed and illustrated into many anthologies of children’s poetry, including:
*

“Who Has Seen the Wind” has received a few musical settings, but I’ve taken a fancy to a 34 second track by Patsy Biscoe. The first 7 seconds are taken up by a cheesy verbal intro, but the rest of the track is a truly lovely musical setting and pretty vocal for this sweetly thought provoking poem.

Who has seen the wind?
Neither I nor you.
But when the leaves hang trembling,
The wind is passing through.
Who has seen the wind?
Neither you nor I.
But when the trees bow down their heads,
The wind is passing by.
